Boards & Commissions
A five-member Board of Supervisors governs Whitpain Township. The Supervisors receive assistance from various Boards and Commissions which are made up of residents who volunteer their personal time and professional talents. Residents interested in serving the Township in this manner should make their interest known in writing to the Township Manager. The following links describe our Boards and Commissions along with their current volunteer members.

Board of Appeals
The Board of Appeals helps to ensure the fair and equitable application of the Building Codes by hearing appeals to decisions by the Code Enforcement Officer and Fire Marshal.

Park & Open Space Board
The Park and Open Space Board assists the Board of Supervisors in planning for the acquisition of future parks and open spaces in Whitpain and the evaluation of what uses are the most appropriate for Township parks and open spaces.

The Planning Commission works toward providing for the coordinated development of the Township.

Zoning Hearing Board
The Zoning Hearing Board helps ensure the fair and equitable application of the Township’s zoning ordinances by hearing appeals to the zoning officer’s decisions.

Human Relations Commission
Whitpain Township finds that it is of high public importance to adopt appropriate legislation to insure that all persons, regardless of actual or perceived race, color, religious creed, ancestry, sex, national origin, handicap, use of guide or support animals because of blindness, deafness or physical handicap of the user or the user is a handler or trainer of support or guide animals, or sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression enjoy the full benefits of citizenship and are afforded equal opportunities for employment, housing and public accommodation.

Environmental Advisory Council
The purpose of the Environmental Advisory Council is to advise the Township Board of Supervisors on matters dealing with protection, conservation, management and use of natural resources, including air, tree, land and water resources located within the limits of Whitpain Township, to assist in the ongoing efforts of the Board of Supervisors to preserve open space within the Township, and to help educate residents of Whitpain Township about the importance of environmental protection.
