From The EAC: Planting Native Trees

 Now is an ideal time to plant native trees, shrubs and perennials. 

Fall is a time for active root growth when weather temperatures are moderate. You can plant or transplant anytime until the ground freezes. Plants will have three seasons to establish a good root system before the hot summer weather sets in next year.
