Sugar Maple, American Hornbeam, Black Gum, White Oak, Swamp White Oak, Redbud, White Fringe Tree and Flowering Dogwood.
Those are the types of trees that will be given away this Sunday at the Annual Township Arbor Day Beautification Program at 8 a.m. at Prophecy Creek Park.
The tree giveaway is sponsored by the Township Shade Tree Commission. Along with free trees, free mulch will be distributed to Township residents on a first-come, first-served basis. Deer protective wrap is also available free of charge while supplies last.
This is a one-day event and will take place rain or shine. There is a limit of one group of three trees and one bag of mulch per address or household. No pre-registration is required but homeowners must present identification indicating Whitpain resident status.
