Waste Collection

Current Township regulations mandate the use of private refuse disposal for all Township residents. This is accomplished by registering and permitting responsible haulers to contract services with each individual homeowner. Currently there are nine (9) registered trash haulers in Whitpain Township to service residents’ needs. As part of the Montgomery County Waste Flow Control Ordinance all Municipal waste generated within Whitpain Township must be taken to the Municipal Waste Authority’s trash-to-steam plant in Plymouth Township. Below is a list of Commercial and Residential haulers registered in Whitpain Township:

Your privately contracted hauler is required to schedule at least one recyclable pickup per week.

New Life For Rechargeable Batteries

Using rechargeable batteries instead of one-time use batteries is a great way to reduce waste. When it’s time for your rechargeable batteries to rest in peace, don’t pitch them in the garbage--recycle them! When discarded batteries end up in a landfill, their heavy metals can leak into groundwater and pollute our water supplies. Fortunately, rechargeable batteries for cordless tools, cellular phones, video camcorders to name a few, can be recycled and turned into new products, like new batteries and stainless steel products. Recycling rechargeable batteries is easy because many popular retail stores in Pennsylvania collect and recycle these batteries. Learn more: to find a rechargeable battery drop-off site near you, visit www.GreenWorks.tv(Green Words "Batteries").
