Pars and Recreation Meeting Minutes Community Calendar

Throughout the year the Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a variety of activities and services to the community. In order to provide the best possible programs, we will, from time to time, seek qualified individuals to work on a part-time basis. If there is anything from the list below that you feel you would be qualified to apply for, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department at (610) 277-2400 or come to the Township Administration Building during normal business hours to pick up an Employment Application.

September 12, 2007

Attendees: Kurt Baker, Kathy Brooke, David Byrnes, Bill Rapine, and John Verica

Absent: Nancy Munn

Regular Meeting: The meeting was called to order at 8:05 p.m.

Kurt Baker advised that the 2007 summer camp program was well attended this year as was the movie presentation at Wentz Run Park. Both activities were assessed to be great successes.

He also advised that on 9-18-2007, a presentation will be made to the  the Township supervisors of the Prophecy Creek Master Plan. This plan outlines the developmental phased envisioned over the next series of years, and Baker encouraged the Park and Recreation Board members to attend. A map was provided to each board member depicting the conceptual plan.

Baker advised that the Township Supervisors authorized the formation of a Whitpain Township Trail Committee to examine the feasibility of a township wide trail plan, to gather information from consulting firms, and on securing funding.

The Stony Creek Sports Park on North Wales road is used extensively by the residence. The township plans for this facility includes turning the rink into a basketball court, and paving the parking lot.

Baker advised that the Harvest Festival will be on October 13, 2007, with a rain date of October 14th. This year the township will use Event Experts Company to provide the midway and booths, and stated that volunteers are needed for this event between the hours of 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Adjournment: Kathy  Brooke motioned, seconded by Bill Rapine to adjourn the meeting at 9:05 PM.

Respectfully submitted:

Bill Rapine, Chairman

John Verica, Secretary
