| The Building
Code adopted by the Board of Supervisors is the PA.UCC. The UCC Adopted the
2006 International Building Code, first edition. The
Building Code adopted for one and two family detached and attached dwellings and their accessory structures is the
2006 International Residential
Code, first edition. The ordinance adopting these codes which includes amendments to them is listed in
Chapter 71 of The Code of the Township of Whitpain. Building permit applications can not be downloaded from this site due to the paper stock and size which is part of the master filing and reference system currently employed. Therefore, only original applications will be accepted. However, you may request a commercial or residential building application via phone, fax or email, and one will be promptly mailed to you.
The building inspections required in conjunction with issued building permits can only be scheduled by contacting someone in the Code Enforcement Department. Inspections can not be scheduled using the Township voice mail system.
Fees charged by the Township for various building permits are listed in the Whitpain Township Fee Schedule. This should be used only as a guide, since the actual total applicable fees need to be calculated on a case-by-case basis by the code enforcement officers. Fees are payable at the time of issuance of the building permits.
The maximum time for residential permit processing is 15 business days from original date of receipt of the application, and for commercial permits is 30 business days. Processing time may be longer or shorter depending upon work load, project complexity, clarity of project scope and detail, completeness of the application and current department backlog.
