The Code Enforcement Department is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Whitpain Township Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Fire Protection Codes. In addition, the department administers and enforces the Whitpain Township
Zoning Ordinance.
The building codes adopted by the Board of Supervisors are regional, national and international minimum standards for new construction for the protection of health, safety and property. The
zoning ordinance contains the minimum requirements for the promotion of the health, safety, morals and the general welfare of Whitpain Township residents and visitors.
The Zoning Map and Floodplain Map are used in Conjunction with the Zoning Ordinance.
The administration of these codes includes reviewing applications for permits, examining the accompanying plans and documents, issuing the applicable permit(s), conducting inspections during construction and issuing the Certificate of Use and Occupancy upon project completion.
The Code Enforcement Department works closely with the Police Department, Engineering Department, Public Works Department and Fire Marshal regarding building code and zoning issues which are encountered in day-to-day operations.
