Township Receives Coveted Aaa Bond Rating

Moody’s Investors Services has assigned Whitpain Township a Aaa bond rating.

Only 15 other municipalities in Pennsylvania have achieved this designation. Moody’s issued the rating in advance of the Township issuing bonds earlier this week as part of the Mermaid Lake property acquisition.

In a press release, Moody’s wrote "...the Aaa rating reflects the Township’s moderately-sized, affluent tax base with proximity to major employment centers and the very strong financial position with ample reserves offsetting exposure to economically sensitive revenues. Additionally, the rating incorporates the Township’s below-average debt burden and manageable pension liabilities."
